Looking Forward to Constantinople

Bo and I head across the Atlantic Ocean next week.....to vacation in Turkey and Greece. This will be my fifth time to visit Istanbul. I love Istanbul. It is a great city. I first went 19 years ago. I can't wait to see it again.

The Persian Carpets, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the people, the city....coming into port and seeing Asia meet Europe and the mist on the Bosphorus. A splendid city....history everywhere you turn.
The Blue Mosque at Night
Class field trip to Hagia Sophia
A wealthy Islamic mosque with four minarets

Hagia Sophia-a 500 year old basilica turned mosque with massive dome-the epitome of Byzantine architecture. This tile mosaic was covered part of the basilica.
The Turkish carpets, the Spice Bazzar and the Grand Bazzar
In Turkey when a boy reaches 13 years of age he gets circumcised. Then about two weeks afterwards his family throws a huge party for him, and he receives a lot of gifts, particularly ones in gold.

i love istanbul.
